About Medical University
History
International University was founded by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Uon Sabo on November 09, 2002. The University is endorsed by the Sub Decree of December 16, 2002 singed by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Dejo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia. After coming back to Cambodia from the United States in the early 1990's, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn concluded that there was an absolute need for a reputable university which sought to open up the world at large to the next generation of bright young Cambodians, to compensate for the depredations suffered by their parents. This required the design and implementation of programs which broadened the students' perspectives (especially necessary given the limitations of the education offered by high schools – another consequence of our recent history); to this end, he selected the American, credit-based system as a model.
Furthermore, he realized that, to broaden the students' outlook, it was necessary to teach these programs in the medium of English: not only would this make them more marketable in a globalizing world, but it also expanded the pool of potential teachers, through collaborative exchange agreements with universities elsewhere in Asia and beyond. As a result of these discussions, together with the input of his own finance and the donation of capital and books, computers, and other materials by various contributors,
The University of Cambodia was established. It was officially opened by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on 23 June 2003. Originally located in three leased buildings just south of the Independence Monument, today the University is firmly established on over 3 hectares of land in the middle of Phnom Penh, and comprises of a state of the art building that can accommodate over 10,000 students. In additionally, on UC Phnom Penh campus contains the internationally recognized SEATV and Radio stations.
The University offers variety of courses and degrees ranging from certificates to doctoral degrees programs. However, the university is better known among students for its pioneering and unique services as the one and only private health sciences institution in Cambodia. To accommodate the fast-growing number of students, the university has been extending its infrastructures beginning with the foundation of its teaching hospital, Sen Sok International University Hospital in 2009, an out-station satellite campus, Bolyno International University College in Kampong Chhnang province located around 60 km northwest of Phnom Penh in February 2011, and the latest local campus II in April 2011. Sen Sok International University Hospital is a key access for the university’s health science students to expose themselves to the real world of work from they gain extensive and comprehensive experience which will finally nurture them to become responsible citizen.
Accreditation Sub-Decree No. 122, dated 16 December 2002 on Accreditation of International Universities Letter from HE Mam Bunheng No. 023, dated March 31, 2003 on the approval of professors within the framework of the state to come to teach at international universities and allow students of the Faculty of Health Sciences to do internships in Units under the Ministry of Health Letter from the Office of the Council of Ministers No. 1417, dated 30 August 2005, on the completion of additional internships for first generation medical students of International University Letter of Kampong Chhnang Province No. 06-AH dated 12 January 2009 on the Permission to Build the School Building of Kampong Chhnang International University Branch Letter of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, No. 296/07, dated 30 January 2007, on the request for investment in the project to establish an international university, hospital, international university, Sen Sok and international university pharmaceutical enterprise

About City
The Kingdom of Cambodia (ព្រះរាជាណាចក្រកម្ពុជា ឬ ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា) (sometimes transliterated as Kampuchea to more closely represent the Khmer pronunciation) is a Southeast Asian nation bordered by Vietnam to the east, Laos to the north, Thailand to the northwest, and the Gulf of Thailand to the southwest.
Understand
Cambodia has had a pretty bad run of luck for the last half-millennium or so. Ever since the fall of Angkor in 1431, the once mighty Khmer Empire has been plundered by its neighbors. It was colonized by the French in the 19th century, and during the 1970s suffered heavy carpet bombing by the USA. After a false dawn of independence in 1953, Cambodia promptly plunged back into the horrors of civil war in 1970 to suffer the Khmer Rouge's incredibly brutal reign of terror, and only after UN-sponsored elections in 1993 did the country begin to totter back onto its feet.
Much of the population still subsists on less than the equivalent of US$1 a day, the provision of even basic services remains spotty, and political intrigue remains as complex and opaque as ever; but the security situation has improved immeasurably, and increasing numbers of visitors are rediscovering Cambodia's temples and beaches. Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor, now sports luxury hotels, chic nightspots, ATMs, and an airport fielding flights from all over the region, while Sihanoukville is getting good press as an up-and-coming beach destination. However, travel beyond the most popular tourist destinations is still unpredictable and risky.
