It was founded following the government of Mauritius approval of the setting up of the University of Technology, Mauritius in January 2000 and the proclamation of The University of Technology, Mauritius Act on 21 June 2000.
About the UTM
The University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM) was created in year 2000 by Act of Parliament as the Government implemented its plan to have a second University which would focus towards development of oriented sectors in particular. Two state institutions namely the Mauritius Institute of Public Administration and Management (MIPAM) and the State Information Training Centre (SITRAC Ltd) were merged to form the University of Technology, Mauritius.
This historic step in the field of higher education was prompted mainly by the need to cater more vigorously for the increasing demand for ICT and Management professionals in a country which is seriously committed to accelerate, by all means, the realization of its ambition to become a major service provider in the field of Information Technology, Management and Finance, Sustainable Development and allied areas. The University started operation by the end of year 2000. The Board of Governors (B.O.G), was in place and in year 2001, created its senior management personnel.

Students life at University of Technology Mauritius
The University of Technology, Mauritius became recognized as a Medical Institution by the Medical Council of Mauritius in December 2016. Currently, the Anna Medical College is affiliated with the University of Technology, Mauritius, with the latter as the awarding body for the MBBS programme which was revised in 2017 from a 4.5 year to a 5 year programme. The entry requirements for the MBBS programme are in line with those prescribed by the Medical Council of Mauritius for an MBBS programme to be a recognized medical qualification for registration as medical practitioner. A first batch of UTM awardees who completed postgraduate medical studies under the ex Padmashree Dr D. Y. Patil Medical College and UTM have successfully registered with the Medical Council of Mauritius as Medical Specialists. UTM MBBS Graduates who completed their studies under Anna Medical College have also undertaken pre-registration examinations prescribed by the Medical Council of Mauritius qualifying them for internship. The School offers a range of other programmes in the field of Health Sciences.

Step 1: Complete the online application provided by the University. or Fill out the course registration form from our website then we will be doing all the below steps .

Step 2: Print out the application. Send the signed form along with the required documents listed below to the university.

Step 3: Scan the documents and email them to the admissions office with a subject line of 'Application for Admission' in the body of the email.

Step 4: Documents can be submitted only until the application deadline. Be sure to submit all documents before the final submission date.

Step 5: After verification of the student's documents by Medical University, the University will send the student the acceptance or rejection letter accordingly.

Step 6: Payment of initial fees should be done once the candidate is accepted. Upon receiving the acknowledgment letter, the student will receive their fee.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at University of Technology Mauritius
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. All students are subject to strict hostel rules. The hostel also serves Indian food.
