Yaroslavl State Medical University (YSMU) (Russian: Ярославский государственный медицинский университет (ЯГМУ)) is a university in Yaroslavl, a city in European part of Russia. It was founded in 1944. YSMU is a large regional center of medical education and bio-medical research.
Yaroslavl State Medical University (YSMU) was founded in 1944. And now it has more than 75-year old history. At present, YSMU is the big regional center of excellent quality medical education and bio-medical research. It is also the leader in medical training and post-graduation education, retraining of specialists of practical healthcare, medicine, pharmacy, and high skilled academic staff for the central regions of Russia.

Students life at Yaroslavl State Medical University
Education of foreign students both on budget (governmental) and contract basis was started by YSMU in 1992. YSMU has good social facilities and structure (including five hostels, sport centers, internet service, student healthcare center, summer camp on the river of Volga, and a garden of medical plants). YSMU is a big and well-known educational, research and scientific center in the fields of fundamental, clinical medicine and pharmacy.
Medical training and education are conducted by 55 departments. The academic staff of YSMU consists of more than 550 persons. Among them, more than 400 have the M.D. and Ph.D. titles (including 310 candidates of sciences, assistant and associated professors and 70 doctors of sciences and full professors).
At present more than 4500 students are studying at YSMU (including foreign students). Medical training and education are conducted by 55 departments that have all the necessary equipment to provide high quality education according to available Russian and international modern standards. At YSMU, there are prepared highly qualified specialists of all local hospitals and medical institutions and professionals from other regions of Russia.
Today the staff of YSMU includes approximately 1000 employees. The academic staff of YSMU consists of more than 500 persons (instructors). Among them 400 persons have the M.D. & Ph.D. titles (candidates of sciences, assistant and associate professors) there are more than 100 doctors of sciences and full professors. Many of them are members of different Russian and foreign international societies and are well-known scientists and clinicians not only in Russia but all over the world.

Hostel And Mess Facilities available at Yaroslavl State Medical University
University has a very good hostel campus with free Wifi access. Accommodations for students are available as singles, doubles and triples. Additionally, there are separate hostels for women and men. All hostels are furnished with beds, chairs, tables, and other necessary items. Facilities within the campus include a supermarket, a clinic, a pharmacy, etc. The hostel is monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day. For Indian students on campus, Mess is also available. Climate

Summer days in June/July in northern Russia are extremely long, with the sun going down at 11pm or in some regions not at all.
Winters, November to March, are cold almost everywhere, with lots of snow, except in the southern part of the country where little to no snow comes by every year. If you do not take appropriate precautions, you can very quickly get a frostbite. Depending on where you go, take a note of the weather and equip yourself with adequate clothing. The outside temperature in the European part of Russia rarely gets below - 15 Celsius, but can drop even lower at night.
